========================================================== TITLE: TOTAL CARNAGE VERSION: 1.0 (LITE) ========================================================== Title : Total Carnage Version : 1.0 (Lite) Release Date : January 2006 Completion : Converted to Lite version in January 2006. Filename : carnage.exe Filesize : 1.5mb Author : Gary 'HL Freak' Wright, Norfolk, England. Webpage : http://www.geocities.com/hl_freak2k/ E-mail Address : hl_freak2k@yahoo.co.uk Description : A tweaked version of the standard Half-Life multiplayer. ========================================================== --- Play Information --- Game: : Half-Life Game Mode: : Deathmatch, Teamplay (whatever HL supports) Players: : Whatever. Known Bugs: : (see below) New maps : No New sounds: : Yes New textures: : Yes New skies: : N/A New models: : Yes New sprites : Yes New scripts : Yes New interface : Yes Bots : No, but you can easily integrate most HLDM bots. Known bugs: * As I have changed the movement speed and gravity, maps that have 'Xen' gravity may be unplayable due to the player rising to the very top of the map. You can fix this temporarily by entering into the console: sv_gravity X (where X is a number, default = 800). * No gravity or speed changes in single player. These custom commands are overwrite with the default ones as my custom .CFG's are opened early on in the console command sequence. This can be overcome by opening the console and entering: 'exec carnage.cfg', then press ENTER. (Note: Multiplayer/server commands will not be loaded) * The key bind aliases and some custom commands are not always consistent - therefore they may not always load with each map change. ========================================================== --- Construction --- Editor(s) Used: : N/A Compile Machine: : N/A Base: : Many existing Half-Life componenets, my idea. Construction Time: : A few hours off and on. Playtest time: : A couple of hours or so. ========================================================== What I would have done/included: -------------------------------- - I would have binded the CD Player commands to keys, but as there is no command for Previous Track or Next Track it was a bit awkward. I did, for test purposes, use the INSERT, DELETE, HOME, END, PAGEUP and PAGEDOWN keys for the CD Player control panel. Ideas that I could not put into action/decided to leave out: - Feign death - Drug/Hallucination mode (with screen shaking, inverted colors, etc.) ========================================================== --- Additional Notes, Tips, Info. --- *** This mod uses the standard HL DLL file, therefore, it should work with ANY version *** This is not a Total Conversion. Nor, I dare say, is it a superior mod. It is merely an 'improved' multiplayer mod, I mainly made it to see if I could and to say that I've made a mod. So please don't dis' me if you think that it is crap, it was never intended to take on Counter-Strike. Many things in Total Carnage, such as farting and burping, etc. are just experimental and/or look/sound good, but don't have any real purpose in gameplay. I think that I probably got a bit carried away in the end, what with all my ideas. A few features such as External camera, Slow-motion mode, and High-contrast model mode - only function in Single Player mode. ========================================================== INSTALLATION: Simply unzip/extract to C:\Sierra\Half-Life\ Run the mod as usual, go to 'Custom Game' in the main menu, select 'Total Carnage', then click 'Activate'. To uninstall, simply delete the 'carnage' folder from the HL directory. Important: You must have the console enabled in Half-Life for the custom commands of this mod to work properly; alternatively, run the 'carnage.bat' file in the HL directory. ========================================================== --- Credits --- PC Gamer (for putting HL mods on their coverdiscs) PC Zone (for putting HL mods on their coverdiscs) Valve (for Half-Life, the best game ever) Gearbox (for Opposing Force, Blue Shift and Condition Zero) Rewolf Software (for Gunman Chronicles) Maverick Developments Ltd.
